my Valentine......

i've been doing a lot of reminecing this week. i don't know why. maybe because valentines is less than a week away, or maybe just because my valentine has been extra sweet lately (could it be because he wants another golf club for valentines???) whatever it is, it caused me to look through stacks and stacks and files and files of old pictures. Oh how lovely where the dating years!! so i decided to compile some of the favorites for a slid show.....i hope you enjoy!

if you so desire you can read on........... (warning.....it may get mushy)

james and i met on a hot summer day in hawaii. i was on my way to a interview at the Polenisian Culture Center and a handsome young kid wizzed by on his make-shift bike. i thought to myself, "man i wish he would give me a ride." and i later found out he was thinking, "man she's cute!!" (you know it!!) we ended up sitting by each other while we waited for interviews and quickly found we had a lot in common. despite the fact that he was flirting it up with all the other girls in the room (in fact, i think he was the only boy! Go James!)

That weekend james and i went to the beach for the school social BBQ dinner thingy. It was fun meeting other students but by the end of the night james and i were swimming in the ocean together, laughing and having fun. (untill we found out we were swimming in the exact spot sharks come in for food at night!!) afterwards he walked me home (OHHHH!!)

we spent the rest of the three months in hawaii together. everyday. we went to movies, boogy boarding, surfing, snorkling, hiking, shopping, dinner, 4th of july fireworks, enjoyed hawaiian sunrises and sunsets, and Yes...long walks on the beach almost every night! i mean really, how could you not start to like each other. however, the summer ended and it was time to go our seperate ways. and so we left it at that. just a summer fling. funny detail....we ended up on the same flight to california and when i left to catch my connecting flight, it was one of those aquward moments when you don't really know how to say goodbye.... i said "well, have a nice life!" never imagining that we would spend our life together!!

months later our paths crossed again and we were both attending utah state. we hung out a few times but nothing really clicked in the romance department and once again we went our seperate ways.

the following spring i was registering for classes and deciding what institute class to take during my break. my bishop, who was an institute teacher, told me to take his. the first time i walked into the class guess who was sitting on the front row?? none other than James Pratt my hawaiin summer love! believe me it was aqward at first but after mustering up the courage to talk to one another the sparks started flying. (oh and the class was 'preparing for celestial marriage....minor detail ha ha!) on april 1st 2005 james asked me on a date!! by May 27th we were engaged and on July 23rd 2005 we were married!!

what an adventure we had together. i am so gratful for james and all he does for me. i love our memories we've shared together and even more the memories we have to look forward to. Baby you are my valentine! i LoVe YoU!

Hey your slideshow was sooo cute. Were all of those pictures from a digital camera? I was thinking that would be fun to do, but Jake and I have so many pictures from a film camera, and I dont' like the thought of scanning all of those:) Anyways, it was a really cute blog.

Marci, you are too sweet. If I were James, I would have married you, too. I'm jealous of your story. My story: we met in a singles ward, and that's as exciting as it gets. But Hawaii... oh, the life. And I loved your slideshow (so much that I copied your idea and put a slideshow on my blog... I hope you don't mind). Very sweet, and you guys make a very cute couple and a very cute family.
