People watchin' at the Pool!

So, everyone knows that there is not to much to do in Logan. so when the summerfest, demolition derby, or the county fair come to town, everyone whos anyone is there! people of different sorts (bless their soles) come out of the woodworks! you'll see anything from mullets and cutoff shorts, to tatooed beer bellied old men with white ponytails. it's really quite amazing. i have often wondered if these folks have ever picked up a current magazine and realized that the mullet, and dread locks are O U T!!

however, between these such events it's like these people disapear (unless of course, you're at wal mart at 2am!) but i realized in the summer, many of them hang out at the pool!

if you know me at all, you'll know i'm a people watcher. i admit it. i'd rather sit on the bench at the mall and watch everyone walk by then shop myself (unless i have loads of money!!! ha) so at the pool today i used my sunglasses not only to block the vicious rays of the sun but to also people watch without them knowing exactly where i was looking, while bowen splashed around by my side! here is what i saw:

man with too much sunscreen:
now, the man with too much sunscreen actually kinda scared me. he was covered in the milky residue of an SPF 50, for sure, and sporting a aqua speedo onsomble. so you might ask, why were you scared? a grown man, at the pool, by himself, in a speedo.....i would respond, what about that isn't creepy?

bathing babysitter:
sorry to whoever had this girl take your children to the pool. flaunting her flaming orange bikini, cell phone in hand, texting of course, her ipod plugging out any sound of nearby children, squeezing in the occasional cheese nip and slimey from a bottle of oil she had recently drenched her skin in. the kids, you guessed it....miles away! they came every once in a while to ask if she would play with them, but nope, she was TANNING!, can't you see that!!!

irregular, unexplainable body image:
this was the 400 pound man tanning. yes, he took on the almost impossible mission of turning over. you'd hate to have a line, right????

boob mom:
i can't decide if i envied her beauty, or was annoyed by her personality. you know who i'm talking about, she has perfect perky boobs (aka fake!) in a perfect perky swimsuit. don't worry, besides keeping up on her beauty she looked at her kids once or twice, "hey, don't splash!!!"

lovely gitty lifeguard:
ok, so if you've never been to the city pool here's how it works. every couple hours all the lifeguards blow there whistles and everyone has to get out. sound simple right. well after everyone got out there were the two ("buff body") boys who didn't. of course there was a life guard across the way, there to blow her whistle again (i think she was just jealous) and again and again, and finally threatening to kick them out. these boys expressed there desire to stay there so they could continue flirty with the lifeguard next to them, to which lovely gitty lifeguard just smiled a gitty smile. now my question, what would lovely gitty lifeguard have done if my child fell in the pool next to her flirting?? yep, that's scarey! glad you're pretty honey, but flirt after work please. i'm paying five dollars every time so you will keep on eye on things. luckily i keep both eyes on my child(with an occasional people watch) but as for bathing babysitter, what are you going to do when those kids fall in the pool....PAY ATTENTION! your a life guard for heavens sake!

well, now that i have all that off my chest. have fun at the pool this summer everyone! and if you want my advice: watch your kids. wear sunscreen, but not TOO much. try to stay away from speedos. just cause you're hot and sexy it doens't mean you forget about your kids, isn't that the reason you're there? make sure if you send the sitter with the kids that it's not during her tanning time! and for heaven's sake, if you're a life guard....quit flirting

Ok I busted up laughing at this post! It totally made me miss all the little quirks about good old cache valley. I am just like you, addicted to people watching. But all that I see at our pool is 1,000 kids! Thanks for the good laugh!

I loved reading your thoughts- funny!! Public activities always make you feel a little bit better about yourself don't they?? Let me know if you want to go to the OGDEN fair, I bet it's a doozy!

Wow, I had no idea you were so observant... I'll bet that life guard and white pasty guy didn't expect you to be so observant either! I'm just jealous that you were at the pool while I was probably at work. Kaayl has yet to experience the joys of the pool... poor girl.

So funny! I, too, am an avid people watcher and today, when I was at Wal-Mart, I'm pretty sure I saw the "perfect" mom you saw at the pool!!

I share your love for people watching. Greg gets so mad at me sometimes because he says that I pay more attention to other people than to him. Man I miss the good old days of the pool. We are moving in a few days and I can't wait becuase we will have a pool and it is much needed here in the 100 degree weather! What do you think about a girls weekend in St. George?

Oh Marci! I love it! I totally know what you are talking about! Bailey and I got passes to Seven Peaks and MAN! You forgot over sized woman in a sting bikini! My one question is,.. Why do they even make them in that size? And did they really look in the mirrior and think that it looked good? Maybe i will make a list one of these days because you know everyone is thinking it!
