Our 4th of July Weekend...
we had a lot of fun over the forth of july. we kicked it off with the Logan fireworks on thursday night. it has become a tradition of ours to go every july 3rd since we were dating. but having bowen there with us made it that much better. he did so well staying up late. we were very proud. we got up to the stadium (we sit across on the grass!) and james started up the grill for our annual BBQ. then we talked, played and laughed until dark. as soon as the fireworks started bowen got VERY cuddly (so un like him) and we soaked it up! the plan was to drive straight to the cabin in bearlake, unaware that the police officers don't allow anyone to turn east. so TWO HOURS later we made it to the cabin, making it 12:30am. we put all the kids to bed and then.....went to bed ourselves!! (boring i know, but once you have kids you find it's better to just sleep when they fall asleep because you never know when they will rise for the day.) and good thing we did because Bowen decided 6 am was a good wake up time! friday was beach day. and although we have spent many weekends at bear lake, we usually skip the lake and just play at the pool, so this was bowen's first experiance with the beach....and he did exactly what we thought he would.....ate the sand!! but all in all he had a blast. did i mention we were up there with james sister, brother-in-law and their six children? well all the kids had a sand castle contest....so fun! it took me back to younger years when nobody cared that their bathing suit was sagging to the knees due to the loads of sand captured in the prosess. oh the memories! i was shocked how much bowen loved the water. it had to have been 30 below, but he didn't care at all. he was giggling so hard when the waves would hit his face! yep! he's a stud! we ended the day with a good 'ol fashioned holiday BBQ. steaks, salads, chips, chicken/shrimp shishkabobs, cake.....ya, we went the whole nine yards! what a great holiday. i can't help but be greatful for this country and all it's freedoms. for the joys of family, and time spent together. this is the land that i love!

Hot Dog! That sounds like a blast. We went to Bear Lake on Saturday and I looked for you. Brody is not a fan of the water looks like we will have to try snowboarding.
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. Bowen looks so cute in his fourth of July outfit I am glad he enjoyed the fireworks. I loved the comment about when they go to bed you go to bed -oh my have we learned that - and sometimes the hard way. Looks like fun and like Bowen enjoys the water a little sand will only make him stronger.
Sounds like you guys had a blast! I wish Easton would have lasted til the fireworks but he is an early to bed boy. I cant believe Bowen got in the water at Bear Lake! Go Bowen! Easton would not go near it. But he would gladly join Bowen in a sand eatting contest!
Sounds like a fun 4th!
So eating sand is the thing? I was wondering what I could expect from Marissa when we head to the lake in a few weeks.
HOw fun! We were at Bear Lake this last weekend too! We need to get together! I think I will be up in Logan next week sometime, so let's play!
Too cute. Loved your post. That's fun that you and your mom are so close. How did the decorating go anyways? Did you take some before and after shots?
I love the pics. looks like you guys had a great time. Jealous of all the yummy food! next time invite us too!
How fun...don't you just love summer? We're going to try Jack out at Bear Lake in a few weeks and I'm a little apprehensive about that, although I'm sure Jack will love the sand and water!
Sounds fun. Our 4th consisted of attempting a picnic (but we didn't make it) and making pizza (which burned). Pretty fun. That's awesome that Bowen likes the water so much. Kaayl is a water afraid-iac and she cries whenever the water is slightly cold. She needs Bowen to come over and teach her how to have fun!
