Saturday is a Speical Day....

since the day i turned sixteen, and many days before that, saturdays have been another day of work. in fact, they were the day of the most work...bringing in many more hours that other after school work days. however, after bowen was born those long saturday work days turned into long family play days. and boy how i LOVE it!! last saturday was especially fun! before 10am i had already cleaned out all the closets and loaded boxes for the DI, cleaned the house, made breakfast, checked some blogs, (it's kind-of habit!) and had the family all ready for the day. usually i would call this good and, feeling accomplished, spend the rest of the saturday relaxing (which by the way, i would be 100% happy with)...but no, not this time! we kept going.....

we started off with a trip up the mountain to see james sister holly and brother darren, who we haven't seen in a while. along with all the kids! we had so much fun! Holly lives in Mt. Sterling on the most beautiful property. we spent the morning shooting clay pigeons off what i like to call "their mountain".
james' turn...he was VERY good at this! and the kids were all mesmerized!

then it was my turn, i blasted the first one out of the air with no trouble and never got another after that. :( i have only done this one other time in high school on a date (i still remember the kid's name ha ha) and was pretty good that night....well apparently james' says i have been trash talking him since we've been married telling him i am good at this sport. (i don't remember that!) he got a pretty good kick out of seeing my terrible aim...i blame it on the HEAVY gun. i couldn't hold it up long enough, and so i would just pull the trigger. not only was the gun extremely heavy, but it had some kick and about blew out my shoulder everytime....i have bruises to prove it!!Darren was really good too as long as two things happened....1.he remembered to take it off safety, and 2. remembered to cock it! it was pretty funny. christy, you missed some good laughs!
then we headed straight for the Harvest Festival....
and boy, was bowen excited.......

(i realize this is dangerous)

we chilled like Indians............

acted like a bunch of Mountain Men.......

played with the animals....... got excited for halloween...... roped some cattle.......
got lost in the straw maze.............

played some old fashioned arcade.........

and left as hillbillies......

all of the Saturday fun, and not a dime out of pocket! (thanks to uncle mike!) now, of course i was thinking "dang, what a great day!" but little did i know james had more up his sleeve. we put bowen down for his nap, james helped me organize all our food storage (which is getting too big to contain!!) and then, my dear hubby took me on a HOT date!! what a stud, right? we had so much fun! these are the days that i appreciate family, friends, and playing [not working] on Saturdays!
