what i've learned in the last 18 months...

Bowen is 18 months old today. the time has literally flown by! i was outside with him this afternoon, we were diggin in the flower beds to get them ready for spring and we found a catapiller. he was fasinated! it was the cutest thing. i picked the little thing up and we played with it in my hand for a while. (before putting it in a jar so we can show dad!) it was then that i realized, this is something i would have never done. i'm SO not a bug person. i have a hard enough time planting flowers or gardens because of all the creatures that come say high, but NEVER would i put one in my hand. i guess i have changed in the last 18 months. sometimes for the better, sometimes not so much. so to ensure that i never forget this, i've decided to make a list of just some of the things my sweet bowen has caused me to learn...

...labor isn't as bad as they say.

..."baby wise" is the only way to go!

...temporarily postponing bedtime till daddy gets home makes everyone happy.

...nursing HURTS!
...most babies don't sleep through the night at five weeks old: I'M LUCKY!
...when dad comes home and the baby still wants his mommy, it's like a bonus check at the end of a stressful work day!
...bath time is more fun than anything that could be on t.v. (even american idol!)

...sometimes it's okay to eat food with zero nutritional value.
...hair grows back, but only if you leave it alone.

...everybody needs a friend!

...toys pick up easy and it's more fun to play with them all at once!

...poopy diapers really are disgusting.

...one day of a happy healthy baby can repay weeks of a teething baby.

...cobwebs really do wait.

...just because the baby wont eat it, doesn't mean it's a bad recipe.

...teaching a one-year-old anything...is sometimes harder than teaching a husband anything.

...a 1 minute time out can seem like eternity when your pride and joy is crying on the other side of the door.

...a helpful toddler is very appreciated but chores take much, much longer!

...errands in town can only be done in threes. any more and you have to start promising an afternoon of "meemo" and even a 1 yr. old doesn't forget that promise!

...picking battles is easier said than done.

...there's nothing more exciting than watching you little one learn to talk.

...a day at the dollar store can be just as magical as disneyland!

...watching your baby learn to pray is BY FAR the most rewarding part of parenting. {so far}

I'm so proud of you with your pet caterpillar. I hope James appreciated it when you and Bowen showed him! And really, I've tried babywise on two babies now, and I think I just need Bowen to come on over and teach my girls what's up. Sleeping at five weeks... and I thought we were friends!

Love what you said, so cute! I agree on the kids learning to pray, it is so cute. Addyson will actually say a whole prayer, and just listening to her little girly voice and her innocence is adorable! I love it. Good job playing with a caterpiller, at least it wasn't something totally nasty like a grasshopper or big spider! BTW I have to comment about your facebook confessional-I totally agree! I get bugged when people ask to be my friend and I hardly know them. Most of the time I just ignore their request LOL. I'm a brat! But really, I don't want to read all their constant updates if I barely know them! And sometimes I have 'unfriended' people, cause I figure if we barely know each other, they prob. won't even notice! Sometimes it's all about numbers on facebook- so dumb!

I am laughing really hard about the "meemo" Comment. I can't tell you how much "meemo" and "sarks" mean to us Oh and "Doods"(turtles) Love it. You are such a good mom! I need to come watch you and take notes. Digging in a flower bed with a sepearted rib? I would let that hold me up for a month! I love excuses to be lazy,.. like blog stalking!
