the train is gone now!

some of you may know that i've been sick for a while. seems like forever. it's been a whirlwind of emotion, fear and pain. but i'm on the recovery now. the doctor told me, "you've been hit by a train, the good news: the train is gone now!" it's exactly how i feel. i'm slowly gaining strength and courage and it just feels so good to be home with my family! i've never felt so loved by the people around me, all your prayers and fasting has been an extreme help and i know it is the reason for a faster than expected return home!

so much has happened...i'll share the 'short-hand' version...

i started feeling tired a few weeks ago. dragging really. thought i was anemic. started taking iron pills. fatigue only got worse. pushed myself due to school. started feeling body aches. took lots of hot baths. didn't help. thursday i got a migraine. went straight to bed. called mom on friday. she said i might have swine flu and told me to call the doctor. i hesitated. she said if i didn't call and i died from swine flu she would kill me. (read again slowly, kinda funny!) called the nurse. saw the doctor within two hours. doctor tested me for mono, and other problems. results were due on monday. long weekend. symptoms worsening. sunday was bad. got a priesthood blessing. felt a little nervous by what i was blessed with. cried. monday came. no results yet. called doctor at 10, 1, and 4. finally got results. negative for everything. nurse said if i wasn't better in three weeks to let them know. three weeks? cried. tuesday came. called mom. mom got bowen. i just held my head for three hours. neighbors came in. did my laundry and cleaned my house. i couldn't talk. mom called my doctor, he wanted me rushed to ER. ER took me straight back. got IV. got blood drawn. got influenza test. had lumbar puncture/spinal tap for menningitis. sent home. pain worsened. neighbors came on wednesday. tried to feed me. hadn't eaten since sunday. mom stayed with me all day. pain worsened. fever spiked. started hallucinating. james took me to ER. ER rushed me back. got pain meds. got IV. got blood drawn. got CT scan. got Ultrasound. got X-ray. results: enlarged liver, enlarged spleen, fluid in lungs. no diagnosis. admitted to ICU. got more drugs. got blood drawn. had swine flu test. felt scared to live, eager to die. no visitors. lonely. everyone had full protection when they came in. felt scared. pain worsened. got meds. got stronger meds. didn't know what day it was. head hurt. anathesiologist did emergency blood patch. (took blood from arm and inserted in spine) pain. pain. pain. got stronger meds. two doctors gave me a priesthood blessing. cried. catheter came out. got UTI. uncomfortable. headache worsening. had MRI. felt the prayers of loved ones. felt comfort. cried. took rag off my face. could see. good news: not swine flu, not TB. no more masks, gloves and covers in room. got diagnosis; Mononucleosis induced Hepititis, CMV, UTI and jaundice. felt releaved. got steriods. got moved to med floor. smiled. laughed. had visitors. ate! peed by myself! showered!! got cards and flowers and fruit basket from friends and family. felt loved. smiled. missed bowen. couldn't sleep. just wanted to see my family. lonely. counted my blood draw sites...over 25. sunday. saw doctor. said i could go home. smiled. got sacrament. called james. saw bowen!! cried. ate! went home!!!!

it was a long week in the hospital but i left feeling so blessed by my Heavenly Father. i had some amazing spiritual experiances while in the hospital, ones i will never forget. thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers, fasting, meals, babysitting and concern.

What a story! We're so glad you're home and getting better. Poor thing we were so worried for you and your little fam. We kept trying to bring you dinner but you two were always busy at the hospital. That was quite the diagnosis, but at least it's behind you. Please let us know when you need some more help!
