all in twenty minutes...

yesterday bowen was too sick to go to nursery (cause he's contagious!) but not to sick to play (cause he's bored out of his mind!) so i stayed home from church with the little man. turns out we ended up having a lot of fun. we decided to go feed the ducks at first dam with a load of bread!

it all started out great. bowen insisted that we "find" the ducks first. even though they were right before our eyes. basically it was his way of saying "i should use my sweet bonochulars today!"

after he spotted the flock we ran to the beach to feed them. (that's right, i said beach...it's all we got folks!)

he even took some time to smile with me for a photo. and said, "this is fun mom!" i agreed!!

but then he spotted the bridge and wanted to run up there screaming (to scare the fisherman of course!) but before he made it to the edge he turned around and said with his hand in the air, "no mom, no come with me. stay!" turns out i'm already an embarrassment to the boy. (there were some pretty cute 13 yr old girls on the bridge and he didn't want his mother cramping his style i suppose.) so i stood back watching and waiting for him to fall in head first and get a hook in his mouth from the local fisherman surrounding us. (yep, sometimes i do expect the worst.) but that was not the case at all....he wanted to climb up the railing to get a better look at the ducks and two seconds later he was laying flat on the ground screaming. by the time i took the two steps to his side the boy was already experiancing his first ever nose bleed. luckily i had stashed some pink tissues in my purse in case we had to wipe a running nose. if he was hoping to impress the ladies, the quest was now officially over. i was hovering over him shoving pink tissues up his nose. needless to say, i think he also experianced his first embarrassing moment. but i thought it was cute! (typical of a mother to think that!)

it didn't bleed for long and we only had to deal with one nasty blood clot. i looked at my watch thinking that it was maybe just time to go home and realized we had only been there twenty minutes. oh the things a toddler can do in only 20 minutes time!

(don't worry, we stayed and played for a while with the tissue in the nose!)

What a stud! He probably still impressed the girls since the tissue was pink!
