ode to the weekends

we LOVE the weekends at our house. especially the ones were no one has to work! yep, those are the best. so when they come we take advantage! last weekend was no exception.

we started at the summerfest, like the rest of cache valley! it was so fun and the navajo tacos did not disappoint! bowen got his first face painting! (ok, so he got nervous and wanted it on his hand instead! i thought it was a great idea!!)

next stop, TOY STORY 3!! i'm not a huge fan of 3D movies. but this one was fun. and bowen loved it! it's so fun that he's old enough to sit through movies now. we recently saw "how to train your dragon" too! they were both such cute movies!

we went to the cabin for a fun break with friends! it was a blast. some of our friends taught bowen some fun games while i was making dinner. twister was the biggest hit. and he actually got it! it was nice to see all my hard work with "right and left" lessons pay off. i had no idea he was ever listening.

of course we went swimming. it was such a beautiful weekend! and if you know about bowen and swimming you'll be happy to know, this summer is night and day difference from last year. i'm so glad!

bowen and i still had time to relax! we love swinging together.

but that wasn't all, i read a novel over the weekend. oh, i love a good novel. and i've decided despite my busy schedule i have to make time for the things i love. i'm so glad i did. (mom, you have left me some great books. i read "the wedding"...and you're right, it's so good!)

we also celebrated Father's Day! yipee!!...shout out to james the best dad in the world! bowen made some awesome brownies for his dad. really, all bowen. he'd stand there on his little stool and say "mom, no help me. you have to be big boy to do this!" too, bad i'm not a big boy! but chocolate is good no matter how it looks right.

all in all we had a great weekend! can't wait for the next time we have so much time off!
